Hello! I'm Deanna. It's nice to have you here. I'm an artist, writer & poet. I'm also a creativepreneur with a small portrait and branding photography business on an island in the Pacific Northwest.  My current work is largely concentrated in Fine Art CollageWatercolor Photographs & Floral Art because it allows the greatest freedom of expression of the idea that "everything in life is art."

For me, there's no art without first wonder and awe at even the smallest of things. I believe we intuit this as children--remember your treasure box under the bed full of bits of things meaningful to only you?  Mine was always stuffed with goodies I found outside on one of my kid adventures, and this habit is still with me today. It seems to me that we all have a need to gather to ourselves things that delight us and give us pause to consider the transcendent, and somehow incorporate this into our world.

I call this being wonder-filled. For me it's another word for artist. Look below: I'm taking the lid off my treasure box and sharing some of what's inside with you below!

THERE IS NO ART WITHOUT FIRST WONDER & AWE

An artist for all seasons

I've been an artist all my life. My earliest memories are of coloring purple trees with my spiffy 64-piece-complete-with-sharpener Crayola Crayon set and writing stories I also illustrated. If you give me a rock and a can of spray paint, I can turn that into something pretty for you.

Girl, learn latte art

Some of my gigs have included: dog walking/pet-sitting, fine dining & catering, the wine industry and being a barista ( No, I don't do latte art. Don't judge me). I currently have a part time side hustle as a floral designer, as well as my own small business. When I see color, I also hear music. Weird, right?

These boots were made in America

I've worked in corporate America, small town America and every place in between, from the Midwest, to the West Coast to the South and Florida. I'd rather move than travel.

Geez, can't you keep still?

My friends say I'm a "Jill of all trades." I guess that's true. I like to move around, learn and try new things. I'm a firm believer in the value of turning your comfortable life on its head and shaking the hell out of it. My favorite sound is silence.

Relative degrees of importance

I hold a BA from a sort of fancy university, or so they tell me. I also went to film school and studied screenwriting. I worked as a freelance writer/editor and have enjoyed publication in non-fiction and poetry. I'm working currently on the obligatory novel that every self-respecting creative feels compelled to pen.

Creativepreneur

Since 2012, I've had a boutique portrait and branding photography business in the Pacific Northwest. Have I photographed you yet?

Why not?
